Residents and business owners need to eliminate potential homes and food sources for skunks and rats by:
- filling or closing spaces underneath porches, stairs, sheds, etc
- remove stacks of lumber, piles of branches, old buildings, etc
- stack fire wood a minimum of six inches off the ground
- keep grass and weeds cut, remove grass clipping piles
- pet food should be inaccessible
- garbage set out for collection should be in a container with a tight fittng lid
- inspect all buildings and vehicles regularly for signes of pests

- Blocking an entrance to lane or driveway;
- Parking within 5 meters of any street intersection or a fire hydrant;
- Parking an unregistered vehicle on any street or avenue;
- Parking in a ‘Handicapped Parking’ area;
- Parking in a ‘No Parking’ area that has been designated by the Town;
- Parallel parking in an area designated for angle parking – which is Centre Street from 1st Avenue to 5th Avenue and on Third Avenue from 2nd Street West to 2nd Street East;
- Parallel parking is required in the balance of the Town. Parallel parking means the parking of a vehicle with both right wheels drawn up to the curb on the right-hand side of the street; curb means the lateral boundaries of a roadway, whether or not marked by curbing;
- When unloading or loading goods that is the only reason to be parked in any lane and then for only 30 minutes;
- Parking a vehicle with a manufacture’s rated capacity in excess of 5,500 kg or length in excess of 7.62 meters in the residential zoning districts.
- Not permitted at intersection designated with a ‘No U-turn’ sign;
- Not permitted between intersections or at the intersection of a street or avenuewith a lane or alley.
- Discarded appliances, they need to be properly disposed of;
- Untidy/unsightly property, may have old furniture in the yard or garbage or junk, vegetation not being cut on a regular basis;
- Vehicles not being driven are required to be stored in a structure, if not they will be considered ‘junk vehicles’ and be required to be removed from your property;
- Buildings that require maintenance;
- Fences not being maintained in a safe and reasonable state of repair.
ELM TREE PRUNING BAN
To reduce the risk of Dutch Elm Disease, pruning of elm trees is prohibited from April 1st. until August 31 throughout Saskatchewan. Fresh cuts from pruning attracts the beetles that can spread the disease and increase the chance of infection.
SUBMISSIONS TO COUNCIL
All submissions and requests to council, including delegations must be received by the Town of Shaunavon administrator by 12:00a.m. on the day prior to Council's regularly scheduled meeting. Council meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:30p.m in the council chambers of the town office.
GARBAGE COLLECTION
For properties on the west side of 9th Street and 4th Street West, north of 7th Avenue
garbage collection is on the street from December 1 of each year and continues until April 30 the following year.
