1952: it seemed like the beginning of the end for Hank Williams. His marriage and his contract with the Grand Ole Opry had ended. His health - never good - was in serious decline. His drinking got worse, concerts were fewer, and even his friend and mentor Fred Rose said he wouldn't put up with Hank's shenanigans any longer.
Then, suddenly, in September of '52 things changed; Louisiana Hayride was a hit on radio, a tour was successful and he was about to get married again. All was going well - too well. Within a few months Hank Williams died in the back of his Cadillac on the way to a performance.
Joe Matheson, backed by a full band, brings the story of one of music's greats to life with humour, bittersweet stories and some of the best music of all time. His Website here

From the far off reaches of Northern Canada comes this fabulous hard-swinging group to serve up a spicy gumbo of tales, music, humour, and just plain fun - making traditional jazz an enjoyable and entertaining experience. New Orleans North is a traditional band, infused with the spirit and enthusiasm of the hottest jazz bands of the 20's and 30's.
The band members team up to bring you a rare sampling of New Orleans jazz and blues delights that rose from the establishments of the infamous back rooms of New Orleans. Stride pianist Grant Simpson leads the band, creating musical arrangements that combine traditional stylings with a fresh approach. The result is one of the most distinctive and energetic sounds on the Canadian jazz front today. Their Website here
