Generous Contributions Jumpstart Centennial Committee Celebrations

A small group of volunteers has been meeting since late November to plan events for Shaunavon in recognition of Saskatchewan's Centennial Year in 2005. Town Council has supported the project and will be contributing $3500 towards the efforts.

Talisman Energy has also made a generous donation of $2000 to the project.   Their corporate sponsorship is greatly appreciated! Additional sponsorships of any amount may be directed to Lisa Nelson at the Town Office.

Special thanks to Ken's Family Fashions for agreeing to display and take orders for Centennial Merchandise. If you didn't place your order at Showarama, please stop by Ken's or the Town Office. All proceeds from merchandise sales will stay in Shaunavon to help with the costs of our own Centennial celebrations. So, wear your pride on your sleeve in 2005!

The Centennial Committee sponsored a writing & poster contest for all ages. The theme was "Saskatchewan -100 Years of Heart".

Winners were announced and presented at the Breakfast Banter celebration on Saturday, July 16. The contest was open to all ages, including adults. Many took this opportunity to put their love of Saskatchewan into words or a picture.

Fabulous prizes were awarded!
