The 40th Reunion for the Class of 61 was an outstanding SUCCESS!  Approximately 55 grads and former classmates attended the event which began with registration and cocktails at three o'clock on Saturday.  They came from points in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, British Columbia, and North Dakota.   Also in attendance was former teacher, Helen Ganley. The afternoon was spent greeting old, no, no, I mean 'former' classmates, (yes we did use ID stickers) sizing each other up and rehashing events and shenanigans within and without SHS.  The former students were especially pleased with and interested in the photo collages placed around the hall and on a table displaying booklets and momentos of former reunions.  Of special interest was a booklet containing updates of classmates' activities during the past twenty years since the last reunion.

A delicious roast beef super was served at six o'clock followed by a short program.  MC duties for the evening were shared by Fred Herron and Dave Grubbe.  We knew we had a stand-up comedian somewhere in the group and Dave didn't disappoint us.  Barrett Halderman presented a reading in a tribute to our deceased classmates (of which there were 8) lending a solemn moment to the occasion and providing a gentle reminder of how short and precious life can be.   Not missed was the fact that we were all indeed privileged to be a part of this gathering.  Judy(Smith) Bailey entertained us with a few selections on the accordion and a humourous 'fashion show' added to the entertainment.  Marie (Fedus) Carlson gave a heartfelt verbal memorial to best friend and fellow classmate, Kay (Kinnear) Onraet who passed away this past spring.  More visiting concluded the evening.

Sunday's agenda was a pancake and sausage breakfast served at the home of Darlene (Park) Hoffarth and was attended by almost everyone.  Many hands had the food cooked up and served in record time and once again the fellowship was fantastic.

If we thought it was hard to believe that forty years had passed before we gathered for this occasion it was even harder to believe after seeing all those faces.  Honestly there are some that absolutely HAVE NOT aged a day since our last one.  A wonderful time was had by ALL!  Some of us thought that this would probably be the last reunion.  Yeah, right!  We're already thinking about the next.  Never say never!

Take Care, everyone, '''til we meet again
