Shaunavon boasts beautiful parks, greenspaces and facilities for residents and travelers to enjoy throughout the year! We are looking for volunteers to help us clean up our community green spaces to showcase how beautiful Shaunavon is as the weather warms up. This includes the parks, walking trails, campgrounds and any other Town spaces that my need it!
All windows were replaced on the main floor of the Town Hall building this past August 2021, for a total of 12 new window installations. Until this project, the windows were the originals from when the Town Hall was built in 1926, making them 95 years old!
A grant was received from the Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation to cover some of the costs, with a requirement to maintain the historical appearance of the building. This was executed successfully in the project as the newly installed windows are made from the same material and look identical to the originals. The windows are still made of wood, but are metal clad which will prevent deterioration of the wood and provide longer lasting effects. Screens were also installed with the new windows, which are something the original windows did not possess. This addition will increase energy efficiency in the building overall!
The funds to cover the project came from the Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation ($40,000), the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program (MEEP; $35,000) and the Town of Shaunavon ($8,000) for a total cost of $83,000.
