The project to remove the dilapidated building on the corner of 3rd Avenue W and 1st Street W (Lots 18-22, Block 15) will be taking place the week of November 1st. Safety fencing will be installed Tuesday, Nov. 2nd and demolition shall begin Wednesday, Nov. 3rd. The project is anticipated to carry throughout the rest of the week and be completed by the end of the weekend.

Roadways will remain open to vehicle traffic but will be constricted throughout the time of this project. We strongly recommend to limit travel near this demolition by taking an alternate route if possible. Although, if you must travel near this site, please be cautious and yield to the equipment and crew on site.

*Please note there will be NO PUBLIC PARKING surrounding this building during the demolition.

The safety of residents and businesses are of the utmost importance to the Town of Shaunavon, making the removal of this hazardous structure be deemed an emergency by Council as per the resolution from the August 11, 2021 Council meeting:

“Lots 18-22, Block 15, Plan B3815 Demolition of Improvement

That Council deems the demolition of the improvement located at Lots 18-22, Block 15, Plan B3185 to be an emergency as defined by The Municipalities Act, due to the June 24, 2021 McNally Associates Ltd. Demolition Opinion that indicated that a section of the metal roof next to the adjacent structure on the east side has failed but does not appear to have damaged the neighbouring structure.”

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in adhering to the traffic guidelines during the time of this project.
