FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Shaunavon, SK - April 28, 2025

Get ready - Saskatchewan’s biggest small-town art explosion is back and bigger than ever.

South West Mural Fest returns for its second year in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, transforming the town’s walls into massive public art pieces from July 16 to 20, 2025.

Following a hugely successful inaugural event in 2024, this year’s festival promises even more murals, more artists, and even more energy - all in the heart of the Prairies.

Seven muralists from across Canada and the U.S. will descend on Shaunavon to live-paint murals across downtown, creating a colorful, walkable outdoor gallery. Visitors are invited to explore the process firsthand, interact with artists as they work, and see small-town Saskatchewan transformed through creativity.

The festival runs alongside Shaunavon’s famous Boomtown Days, a weekend packed with lawnmower races, BBQ competitions, strongman events, live entertainment, and true Prairie hospitality. It’s the perfect collision of art, community, and culture - making Shaunavon the place to be this July.

“This festival is about more than murals - it’s about pride, creativity, and showcasing the soul of rural Saskatchewan to the world,” says Andrew Robertson, Festival Organizer. “We’re inviting everyone - visitors, influencers, content creators, and media - to come be part of this moment. Watch the town transform before your eyes.”

Highlights for 2025:

  • Seven large-scale murals created live by top North American artists
  • Public spray painting workshops hosted by professional graffiti artists
  • Boomtown Days celebrations including BBQ competitions, strongman events, local food, and more
  • Expanded mural map and self-guided tours around Shaunavon
  • Free to attend and explore Calling All Influencers, Content Creators, and Media!

South West Mural Fest is looking for storytellers to capture the action. Influencers, photographers, vloggers, travel writers, and media outlets are invited to experience the festival firsthand and share the story of how art is changing the face of rural Saskatchewan.

Exclusive behind-the-scenes access and press resources are available for interested creators.

Come for the art - stay for the community, culture, and Prairie skies.
