Boomtown Christmas was chilly, but wow, did our town ever shine! A heartfelt thank-you to the Shaunavon Chamber of Commerce for organizing another magical festive event, and to every business,...
The Town of Shaunavon is extending a heartfelt thank you to Fire Chief Merrick Goldstein, who has stepped down after eight years in the leadership role and more than 21 years of dedicated volunteer service with the Shaunavon District Fire & Rescu e .
Merrick’s impact on this community is immense. From strengthening training standards and helping advance major department projects, including the rescue truck, heavy-rescue certification, and early planning for a new fire hall, Merrick has led with professionalism, passion, and a true commitment to safety.
But anyone who knows Merrick knows that his leadership reached far beyond fire calls. He has been a familiar and positive presence at community events, helping at the Bike Rodeo, handing out Positive Tickets, supporting fundraisers, working with youth, visiting seniors, flooding the outdoor rink in winter, and more! His care for people showed up everywhere.
We also want to acknowledge the warm, collaborative working relationship Merrick maintained with the Town of Shaunavon. Our staff truly appreciated his openness, communication, and willingness to work together toward shared goals. His leadership made our community stronger.
As we thank Merrick for his many years of service, we also look forward to the future of SDFR under Kobie Guenther, who brings strong passion, dedication, and respect from his fellow members. We are excited to continue supporting SDFR as the department moves forward!
