Living Tree Environmental Limited (Living Tree) has been contracted by our community to complete Dutch elm disease (DED) surveillance during the summer of 2022. Living Tree personnel will be in our community on Thursday, August 4th to identify all American trees with DED symptoms and detect all contraventions of the provincial DED regulations on all public and private lands.

The Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory issued by the Water Security Agency is in effect starting July 18th, 2022. This applies to all residents and users of the Town of Shaunavon’s water distribution system. This advisory is in place because the Hydrant Replacement Program currently being executed (as an effort to improve the water quality in Shaunavon and ensure public safety) requires depressurizing of the water main lines.
PROPERTY TAXES REMINDER Property Taxes are due by the end of this month on August 31, 2022. If paid in full by August 31st, you will receive a 1% discount on the municipal portion of your property taxes. A charge equal to 1.5% of the amount that remains outstanding on current taxes will be added on the first day of September, October, November and December.
The Town of Shaunavon’s top priority is the safety of the community’s children and citizens. We strive to promote safety through education and awareness of safety practices, and implementing safety measures where necessary. The Town of Shaunavon’s goal is to increase school zone crosswalk awareness by installing flashing pedestrian crosswalk signs at each of Shaunavon’s schools (Christ the King School, Shaunavon Public School, and Shaunavon High School) as part of our School Zone Safety Initiative.

In the effort to control Mosquito populations within Shaunavon prior to Boomtown Days weekend, Mosquito “Fogging” will be taking place between the hours of 4am to 7am on the following dates (weather depending): - FRIDAY JULY 8, 2022 - TUESDAY JULY 12, 2022 - WEDNESDAY JULY 13, 2022 • DeltaGard 20EW will be utilized for this program.
The Town of Shaunavon has contracted Helix Construction for hydrant servicing throughout the community. The improvement of the water quality in Shaunavon was identified as high importance by property owners and the Town of Shaunavon alike. That is why the Fire Hydrant Replacement Program is progressing as part of the Town of Shaunavon’s Water Quality Improvement Strategy.
The Director of Parks, Recreation and Facilities is an out-of-scope position with the Town of Shaunavon. Under the direct supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Parks, Recreation and Facilities will be responsible for the planning, organization, direction, and general management of the Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department (Parks, Campgrounds, Buildings and Cemetery), including all assets, facilities, and the oversight of external engineering and applicable service contracts.
On Monday, June 20, 2022, a CAA School Zone Safety Assessment was conducted at Shaunavon High School in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. Staff from the Town of Shaunavon, the Shaunavon RCMP detachment, and community volunteers worked onsite in teams to track risky behaviours performed by motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists in the school zone.
