The vision for the ‘Opportunities Showcase’ is simple, to provide an opportunity for individuals, businesses and organizations in not only Shaunavon but also the region an opportunity to showcase their incredible richness of skill, talent, compassion, intellect, commerce and growth to allow everyone to thrive.
In partnership with the Grand Coteau Cultural Centre, Chinook Regional Library Shaunavon Branch, Shaunavon and District Chamber of Commerce, Conseil économique et coopératif de la Saskatchewan (CECS), the Southwest Newcomer Welcome Centre, Pattison Agriculture, Access Real Estate, Redhead Artificial Lift, South West Mural Fest and the Town of Shaunavon team including Council and the Economic Development Committee, we welcomed community members from all walks of life.
We were fortunate to host guests from Regina, Medicine Hat, Swift Current and Eastend, only narrowly missing out on welcoming guests from Saskatoon and Gull Lake due to urgent matters that arose, which we completely understand life happens, though we were still able to Showcase their opportunities.
We welcomed new businesses to the community Vanner’s Clubhouse, Whitey’s Strings and Other Musical Things and Wild Lens Photography. We hosted local Artisans, The Blue Dog Studio and Redbeard Glass.
Together we shared beautiful, wholesome and delicious foods among new and old friends from El Faro Market, Leona’s Baked Foods, Ranch House Meat, Bone Creek Colony, and Prairie Roads Market.
The Veren Wickenheiser Centre was alive with people embracing and creating opportunities. I can hardly wait to see how in the coming weeks and months these connections are cultivated and I am not the only one attendees are all keen and already signing on for the next showcase with an incredible number of businesses and organizations who were unable to attend this time already committing to the next ‘Opportunities Showcase’.
I am also pleased to share that opportunities were embraced with organizations collaborating on new ventures, people putting a face to employers and finding employment, businesses making trade, new residents finding community and people being inspired, all this being the feedback I have received just this far.
I am genuinely in awe of our community for their overwhelming support of one another, which serves to prove that when we lift each other up we all rise and thrive!
Thank you to all our guests who were curious enough to check out the showcase, we hope it was able to serve you in some way and would love to hear about your experience and how we can serve and support you better moving forward, please reach out to shaunavonedc@saskel.net.
Finally, to all those who saw the vision and actively participated in this foundational grassroots venture, you are all so very valuable though sadly far too numerous to mention here, so please check out our website shaunavon.com in the coming days on the ‘Opportunities Showcase’ page for a complete listing of all those with exhibits and to watch for upcoming information, I look forward to seeing you all again in the Spring of 2026!" -EDO Scott
