Opportunity Description

The Citizens on Patrol Program is a community led, police supported, Crime Prevention and Crime Reduction program in Saskatchewan. Shaunavon has launched our own community COPP, and is looking for more volunteers to join!!

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: COPP has been in existence for numerous decades, where there has been a resurgence in interest in COPP as citizens want to contribute to the safety of their community. All COPP volunteers patrol in pairs when they are available. They are on the lookout for any suspicious or criminal activity, to record the activity and, where appropriate, to report it to the RCMP. The COPP act as another set of eyes and ears for their community and their detachment, to assist in preventing and reducing crime.

CRITERIA: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, not have a criminal record or be involved in an active criminal investigation, and complete and pass a security clearance. To apply, candidates must submit a short biography/cover letter stating their interest in the program, previous volunteer experience and history in Shaunavon and the area. Candidates will need to complete and pass a reliability security clearance.

This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to safe communities and safe homes in your area!
